What is an MAOI?

MAOIs, or monoamine oxidase inhibitors, were the original antidepressent. Though effective, their use has been phased out by the medical community due to the development of newer pharmaceuticals to treat depression.

Germination

Syrian Rue likes a well-drained not too damp and not too rich medium. The seed flat must be kept in the dark for the seeds to germinate. The temperature should be about 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit).

Growing

Syrian Rue needs full sun and a well-drained to dry, poor soil. It is a perennial that will die off in winter, but re-emerge in spring from the roots still underground. The plants produce many stalks, each with a single flower. The fruit of the plant is globular and filled with seeds.
