Automating your grow with Alexa or Google Home.

So, you're interested in automating your grow. It's a popular topic, because people have to go on vacation, and you don't want or need a babysitter for your indoor garden these days. Assuming that you have a moderate-sized grow space and are primarily growing popular strains of cannabis for personal use or small-scale cultivation, the following advice and resources can help you automate your indoor grow using Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

Setting Up Your Device

To get started, you will need to set up your Amazon Alexa or Google Home device and connect it to your grow space. This can typically be done by downloading the appropriate app and following the instructions for connecting your device to your home's Wi-Fi network.

Controlling Lighting

One of the most important aspects of indoor growing is controlling the lighting. With Amazon Alexa or Google Home, you can easily control the lighting in your grow space by using voice commands to turn lights on and off or adjust the brightness. You can also set up schedules for your lights to automatically turn on and off at specific times of the day. You can also have schedules for flowering or vegging, which is very convenient.

Adjusting Temperature and Humidity

Another key aspect of indoor growing is controlling the temperature and humidity levels in your grow space. With Amazon Alexa or Google Home, you can use voice commands to adjust the temperature and humidity levels to ensure optimal growing conditions for your plants. You can also set up schedules for temperature and humidity levels to automatically adjust throughout the day.

Monitoring Nutrient Levels

To ensure that your plants are getting the proper nutrients, you can use Amazon Alexa or Google Home to monitor the nutrient levels in your grow space. This can be done by connecting a nutrient sensor to your device and using voice commands to check the levels and adjust as necessary. Combine this with automated pumps to distribute water and nutes, and with a little monitoring and tweaking, you might be able to leave them alone for a week or more, depending on the size of your reservoirs.

Additional Features

In addition to controlling lighting, temperature, humidity, and nutrient levels, Amazon Alexa and Google Home also offer a variety of other features that can be useful for automating your indoor grow. For example, you can use voice commands to check the weather forecast, set reminders for manual watering and fertilizing your plants, and even play music to help your plants grow.
